7:00-8:00 Early Arrival in Playroom Students who arrive between 7-8am are greeted by teachers in the playroom (room 114). Puzzles, table games, & art activities are provided.
8:00-9:00 Learning Centers Students work either individually or with other children in self-selected activities that further enhance the curriculum. Areas include sensory exploration, art, dramatic play, blocks, puzzles, etc.
9:00-9:30 Prayer & Breakfast Thanking God before meals, discussing manners, healthy foods
9:30-9:45 Class Meeting & Morning Message Welcome, calendar, choose jobs for the day, announcements, morning message to children covering the objectives of the day.
9:45-10:00 “Get Moving” Activities Movement activities designed to build muscle development and coordination, self confidence and self esteem.
10:00-10:30 Direct Instruction in Math/ Language Arts/Shared Reading Teacher works with small literacy groups and/or individuals, children work in literacy centers on ABC, phonemic awareness, concepts of print, comprehension processes, Big books, song charts & poems, fine motor activities to build hand strength, concepts of print, modeled writing. Teacher works with small groups and/or individuals, children work in math center on math concepts such as numbers and operations, patterns, spatial sense, measurement, and reasoning using manipulatives, graphs, and hands-on activities.
10:30-11:00 Creative Development Opportunities to explore various art materials, fine motor control, self-expression, music & instruments.
11:00-11:15 Prepare for Outdoor Play Bathroom & Coats
11:15-11:45 Outdoor Play Gross Motor Development, safety, social skills.
11:45-12:00 Prepare for Lunch/Prayer Handwashing before lunch, spiritual development.
12:00-12:30 Lunch Good nutrition practices, appropriate table talk, social interaction, cleaning up.
12:30-12:45 Prepare for Nap Good nutrition practices, appropriate table talk, social interaction, cleaning up.
12:45-1:00 Spiritual Development Bible stories, songs, movement and prayer.
1:00-2:00 Rest/Quiet Time Play quiet music, teacher reads from chapter book, students sleep if they need it, encourage independent reading, quiet activities.
2:00-2:30 Wake Up/Prayer and Snack Thanking God before meals, discussing manners, healthy foods.
2:30-3:00 Learning Centers Students work either individually or with other children in self-selected activities that further enhance the curriculum. Areas include sensory exploration, art, dramatic play, blocks, puzzles, etc.
3:00-3:30 Outdoor Play Gross Motor Development, safety, social skills
3:30-4:15 Group Meeting/Science/Social Studies Hands-on experimentation & discovery, cultures, people, community, diversity
4:15-5:30 Learning Centers Students work either individually or with other children in self-selected activities that further enhance the curriculum. Areas include sensory exploration, art, dramatic play, blocks, puzzles, etc.
5:30-6:00 Combine in Giraffe Class Students combine in the Giraffe class for learning center activities until the Center closes at 6:00pm.
* The times and activities are all approximate. The teacher makes adjustments based on the needs of the class and/or special events. Learning and activities in language arts, mathematics, science, and other areas are integrated throughout the day and do not take place solely during designated time periods.
