History of the WEE Center

In 1976, leaders of the Rockville First Baptist Church saw the need for Christian child care for working parents. They decided to begin a child care center as an outreach ministry for the community. Their vision was to provide quality Christian child care using sound educational principles in a nurturing environment. They saw it as a way of reaching out to families in the community all week long and not just on Sundays. We opened our doors in September that year with just two classrooms. We have grown through the years. Now we are licensed for 56 children and four classrooms. We have always tried to improve our program each year, but our mission remains the same – to foster the growth of the whole child in all areas of development: spiritual, physical, social/emotional, cognitive, and creative.
